How to Make Your Own Wax Seals for Your Letters to the Bride Scrapbook
Share
There’s something timeless about sealing a handwritten letter with wax. It feels personal, sentimental and a little bit magical — the perfect finishing touch for your Letters to the Bride scrapbook.
If you’ve never made a wax seal before, don’t worry. It’s surprisingly easy, and you don’t need fancy equipment to get beautiful results.
What You’ll Need
- Wax sticks (or melting beads)
- Wax seal stamp
- Candle, lighter or heat source
- Metal spoon or melting pot
- Heat-proof mat or silicone pad
- Envelopes, cards or paper
Tip: Protect your surface — wax can drip and set quickly.

Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Melt the Wax
Hold your wax stick over the spot you want the seal and let the wax drip until you have a small circle (around the size of a £1 coin).
If you’re using wax beads, pop 2–3 into a metal spoon and melt them gently over a candle flame. Then pour onto your chosen spot.
Step 2: Stamp the Wax
Wait a few seconds for the wax to cool slightly — it should still be soft but not runny.
Press your wax seal stamp straight down into the wax. Hold for about 5–10 seconds, then lift slowly to reveal your design.
Step 3: Let It Cool
Leave your seal to harden completely before touching it.
If you’re making multiple seals, you can chill the whole sheet in the fridge for a few minutes to set them faster.
💡 Extra Tips
- Lightly chill your stamp before pressing — it helps the wax release neatly.
- Mix colours or add a hint of metallic ink for a luxe finish.
- Practice a few times on scrap paper first to get the hang of it.
